Department of Biostatistics Hosts IISA 2018 Conference

The department of biostatistics hosted the International Indian Statistical Association’s annual meeting. This four day conference attracted 300 participants and was held May 17-20, 2018 at the HPNP Complex at the University of Florida.

Dr. Ji-Hyun Lee, Professor, Elected as ASA Fellow

Dr. Ji-Hyun Lee, incoming Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Director of UF Health’s Cancer Center’s, Division of Quantitative Sciences, recently received news from the American Statistical Association that she has been elected as ASA Fellow.

BSO Networking Workshop

The Biostatistics Student Organization teamed up with the Career Resource Center and hosted a networking workshop to connect students with CRC and to provide general knowledge in regards to the resources, career planning and services offered to students.

College of Medicine 2018 Celebration of Research Day

The celebration of research day was held on February 19, 2018 at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. This event consisted of a Keynote speech, a special guest seminar, and a poster session. In total, 96 posters were presented. Of those, several Biostatistics students and faculty members participated and shared their research as part of the poster session.

Ph.D. Student, Kai Yang, Receives Young Investigator Award

Kai Yang, second year Ph.D student, was selected to receive one of the ASA’s section on Statistics in Epidemiology Young Investigator Awards. This award is presented to honor the best papers submitted by young investigators in statistics in epidemiology.
