A Message from our Chair
Welcome to the Department of Biostatistics. I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as the founding chair of the department since 2013. The department has many accomplishments since its establishment in 2010. For instance, the department received the first-ever ranking from the US News & World Report in 2018 as a top-20 biostatistics department in the nation. During the 2019-2020 academic year alone, the department faculty and students received $8.7 million in extramural grant funding and published over 100 research papers in refereed journals like New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet. Many of our faculty members are national and international leaders in our research areas, and our graduate programs provide rigorous training to exceptional students in a supportive and collaborative environment. More importantly, our dynamic and growing faculty, staff and students are dedicated to excellence across our missions in research, education and service for building a diverse and inclusive future together.
In addition, because we are uniquely co-located within the Colleges of Public Health and Health Professions and Medicine and within an academic health center, we have tremendous opportunities for broad interdisciplinary research and educational collaborations, which creates a training environment in which our students thrive. We are proud to be educating the next generation of leaders in biostatistics. We hope you will enjoy exploring our web site and learning more about the wonderful work happening in our department and across the University.
