Congratulations to Dr. John Kairalla who was recently promoted to Research Associate Professor. Dr. Kairalla joined the department of Biostatistics in June of 2013. Since this time, he has excelled in all aspects. He received his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His areas of expertise include clinical trial design/ implementation/ analysis, adaptive clinical trials, linear models, and power analysis techniques. He has served as PI, Co-I, and statistician on multiple NIH, VA, and AHRQ funded projects in a wide range of areas including Nursing, Health economics, rehabilitation research, neurology, and nephrology. His currentfunded work is focused on aging research and childhood cancer. He is a Senior Statistician at the NCI funded Children’s Oncology Group Statistics and Data Center (COG SDC), where he develops and reviews concept proposals, trial design, sample size calculations, and develops/implements safety and efficacy monitoring rules for implements nationwide and worldwide clinical trials in the area of childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) including therapeutic treatment and neurocognitive outcomes. He has taught courses on Applied Biostatistics, Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials, and Biostatistical Computing.
