Nationally recognized researcher Dr. Fei Zou, has joined the University of Florida Department of Biostatistics, effective August 24, 2015. We welcome Dr. Zou from the University of North Carolina where she began as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics in 2001 with her last position as Professor in the Departments of Biostatistics and Genetics. She served as the Director of the Biostatistics/Bioinformatics core of the UNC Neuroscience Center Research Core and was a member of the Carolina Center for Genome Sciences. Her expertise is primarily in statistical genetics and genomics, investigating the role of genetic variations in complex human traits and diseases. She has been developing robust and efficient statistical methodologies for high-dimensional genetics and genomics data. Dr. Zou is an expert on linkage analysis, genomewide associations studies (GWAS), microarray and next generation sequencing data. She is funded on multiple projects related to statistical methodology development, mental disorders, autism and cystic fibrosis. With the addition of Dr. Zou, the Department of Biostatistics continues its progression as a leading research department with a focus on academic excellence.
